Oasis Irish Rose was the second horse to be pulled from her stall on Tuesday morning.  Frank had opened MeMe's and Rose's stall and was moving to the next when Deb ran in and grabbed another horse.  She kept calling the girls by name so that they would continue to follow her and they all calmly walked out the back of the barn and to safety.  Unfortunately, both MeMe and Rose were wounded before being removed from their stalls.  MeMe's wounds were so bad that it was decided the most humane decision would be to euthanize her.  Dr. Krausher stabilized Rose before she could be taken to his clinic for assessment.  At Agri-pet, Rose was examined and it was determined that her best hope was to be taken to Rood and Riddle in Lexington, KY for more extensive treatment.
Under the care of Dr. Bonnie Barr at Rood and Riddle, Rose has done well.  Her wounds were determined to be mostly superficial with some extensive burns around her ears, over her withers and on her rump.  Treatment at a hyperbaric chamber was recommended and tried by Nancy and Deb.
Rose is going to receive about 10 treatments for her burns as well as topical treatments.  She is eating very well, drinking alot of water, and has even made friends with one of the stable technicians at Rood and Riddle.  She is the princess of their barn, just like she is the princess at Oasis Farms.  We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
